8/26/13

these photos are from when me and Elder marin had little ceasers for lunch today

hey everyone,

I'm feeling much better today but i'm still a little under the weather. thank you all for the emails. it's so nice to come here and read everyones email and see that everyone is doing well. I cant believe how fast time is flying by. ive been in mexico for 4 weeks now and ive been on my mission for 2 months now!!! can you believe it! my spanish is getting better and better everyday. i'm speaking more in our lessons and i'm starting to understand just a little bit more in our lessons as well. when i first got to mexico i was really hoping for a trainer that spoke fulent english so that when i needed help i could ask him. looking back i'm so glad that it didn't happen. and this is the reason why. the whole zone went on splits this past thursday and friday, and we are doing them again in a week. with the same elders. and the elder that i was put on splits with spoke fluent english. he's name is elder manzano (which in spanish is apple, i thought that was pretty fun and he made a few jokes about it that i couldn't stop laughing about.) well anyway i noticed that having a comapion that spoke fluent spanish isn't a good idea. because i relied on him to translate everything. even the few things in spanish i did know. i thank the lord for the experince but i thank Him even more that elder manzano is not my comapion because i know if he was my compaion i wouldn't know half the spanish i do now. it's sometimes very hard to comunicate with elder Marin becasue he doens't speak very much english and i don't speak very spanish but we can usally get the message a cross. and i know that we can because the lord helps in all that he can. we found 3 new investigators and i can't wait to teach them again. one of them prayed to heavenly father to prove us wrong and when he couldnt he decided to listen to our lesson and we teach him againtomorrow. i can't wait to see the gospel take effect in his life it's going to be amazing watching the turn he will have. i love you all and i love reading your emails see you next week.

So i am actually in tampico city serving in a little area called nuevo progreso. I don´t really have problems sleeping other then the power went out on thursday night about 12 am and it was like 100 in our room. that is the only sleepless ive had my whole mission. yesterday (sunday) at lunch i was talking to the hermano that speaks english i believe his name is juan but i can´t remember for sure. anyway i was talking to him and he gave me so really good advice i don´t know how to show you guys over email so i will just wait until christmas to show you. (if i remember). mom will you please have the kids email me when they can and will you please send me more killer biotic, cfx, and mineral caps. i´m almost out and by the time they get to me i probally will be. and with spanish you know that you can´t speak spanish very well when the 2 year olds can speak better then you can. that´s so cool that the kids are all involved in something.. tonight we are teaching our only investagator Israel, the law of chasity. everybody else we teach are all inactive members and we try to reactivate them. which is way fun to get to know each indivual family. well that´t it for this week. love you all and i love reading your emails. have fun and talk to you next week.

August 12
HEY ALl how are you? i´m doing well and it´s so nice to read all of the emails. the apartment is small but it works for just me and my companion.  the food is amazing i was kinda hesitent of eating some of it because of the way it looked but i have found that the worse it looks the better it tastes. on tuesday we ate some type of soup that did not look so good but i didnt want them to feel bad so i ate it and it was amazing! i dont remember what i had on wednesday butthursday we had stuffed green chilles that didnt look to scrumpshis but that was probally the best food had all week. on friday through saturday we had chicken with rice. we have tortillas with every meal. if someone doesn´t have them it´s like they forget how to eat it´s crazy. i sit in every meal dead quiet trying to learn spanish. when they ask me personally a question i look at my companion and he usally does his best to answer for me.same thing with lessons we teach. but yesterday i didn´t because there is a hermano in my ward that speaks ENGLISH it was so nice to finaly understand what people are saying. i asked him if i could pay him to follow me around and translate. he said "no you need to let the lord be your transltor" and eversince i have always prayed to have the lord help me with the gift of tounges in lessons and i have learned so much more. today we had little caesars pizza and we went to the beach. i have pictures ill show you guys of my comapion and I, I can´t really comunicate that well because he doesn´t speak english and i can´t speak spanish but i am learning more and more everyday. i have gotten use to the heat now. and i lost some weight. when i left the mtc i could bearly fit in to my belt now i need to use the second hole in the belt. it´s crazy.  our ward is amazing we have 30 or so active members and even more that are either inacitve or nonmembers. the obispo is amazing and wants to help us the best he can. that´s so cool what tance and sawyer and xotchil did. i want to hear all the stories tell them to email me and i will read them next week. in mexico you dont knock on peoples doors you yell "buenas tardes!" so we came up to a mans house and yelled buenas tardes! we talked to him and as it turns out he was taking the lessons from the other missionaries before they we transfered. we taught him the second lesson and committed him to be baptized he said yes and we have a date of sept 14 i hope and pray that he keeps the commit. i feel like he will because he seemed really happen when he went to church with us yesterday. well that´s all i got. until next time
LOVE

Augus 2nd

August 2nd
I'm doing really good I got your dounuts and I love how you take a bite out of one before sending it to me. MY compaions think that it's really weird but I just laugh and eat it anyway. I'm so excited to go to Mexico on Monday! We didn't get our visas until yesterday so that was pretty stressful. but I got it!!!!!!!!!!!! When we went to the consolet yesterday I was the travel leader and I will also be the travel leader on monday. there was a guy on our way back that had asked us if we were the missionaries I was in the middle of the group of 10 so that I could watch everyone. so this guys name is scott. Scott only had a pair of pants on and had cuts up and down his body. this is how the story goes:
Scott yelled: "ARE YOU GUYS THE MISSIONARIES?"
I ran up to him before anyone could talk to him.
Tean: "Yes, we are what can we help you with sir?"
Scott: "Can you guys give me a priesthood blessing?"
now before I could say no 2 missionaries said yes.
Tean: "Ok, we will give you a blessing but can we go to a more private place?"
Scott: "I know where to go. Maria (his imaganry wife) Maria come see this the Jesus people are going to cast the devil out of me."
Puts his arm around his imaganary wife and and takes us to a little alley way. When we walking with scott I pulled the missionaries aside and said
Tean: "Elders, something does not feel right about give Scott a blessing. so let's just say a prayer with him."
The 2 missionaries agree and I told scott
Tean: "Ok, we will say a prayer for you but we feel like we need to get to know you better to give a blessing."
He was Ok with that and we said a prayer for him. as we were walking away scott yelled
Scott: "I NOW KNOW YOU GUYS HAVE THE PRIESTHOOD OF GOD! MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU IN ALL THAT YOU DO"
It was a weird experince but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It helped me realize that with the Lord's help you can do anything.
SO This is my flight plan for monday:
Get up at 1:30 am so that I can be in the travel office at 2:30am (I'm travel leader and I have to get all the knowledge of what I will be doing)
First Flight: SLC To Dallas Forworth 6 am land in Dallas at 9:40. (I will call you guys then so if you will send me the phone that would be great.) :)
Second flight: Leave Dallas at 12:05 pm and arrive in Mexico city at2:30pm
Thrid Flight: Leave Mexico city at 5pm and arrive in Tampico at 6:20pm
It's a crazy scheudel but I know that the Lord will help us the whole way through. my comapion is terrified of flying so not only will I have to take care of a group of 6 but I have to make sure that my companion doesn't freak out and have a heart attack. I went to the chiropractor for the last time on Wednesdayand my back and shoulder have never felt so good! The shoes you got me are perfect! just what I need. I will send a package home tomorrow (saturday) after I am done packing so that everything I don't need but I still want I will can send home. I Love the shoulder bag! It's what I need. It's big enough to but everything I need inside but it's not huge. As of right now I think the only thing I need is the phone other then that I'm ok. If I think of anything I will let you know when I get on at 4 but I think I'm ok. THANK THANK THANK YOU  for the pocket knives I gave one to my compaion and he has used it everyday since. That's pretty much about it. Oh please do not send me more letters to the MTC I will not get them in time. Please just email me and I'll do my best to write back. Thanks guys talk to you from Mexico in a week!
